I alluded to a friend I have that is providing me technical assistance on my current novel and equally-current NaNoWriMo challenge. This guy is a friend of the family, actually, more than a close buddy of mine, but let’s not split hairs.
I won’t go into detail here, but this week I received an email from him answering some key questions about military operations. Included in the note was this picture:
I have his permission to tell you that this photo was taken against regulations inside of the Pentagon. Apparently, he almost got in trouble for this, but managed to sweet-talk his way out of consequences. At least that’s his story, and so I’m sticking to it.
But how awesome is it that there’s a Klingon phrase painted in a food court in the center of our national defense structure?
In other news, I’m happy to report the NaNo is going strong. After seven days, I’m estimating I’m not only one-quarter done in time allowed, but also well past one-quarter complete on my rough draft selected for this project. On my homepage tracker, I have five of seven green blocks and only two yellow. At the time of this typing, I’m over 13k words in.
So far, so good.
